Job SummaryLead and manage a comprehensive Intramural Sports program that offers over 32 intramural sports programs and serves over 5,000 participants annually, and a comprehensive Club Sports program that offers over 25 Club Sport programs and has over 300 Club Sport athletes.ResponsibilitiesManage facilities, review and enforce policies and procedures, utilize risk management best practices, maintain industry standards related to program areaFoster community and campus partnerships including academic groups in support of the Intramural Sports ProgramAssist with University, division, department and/or facility special eventsMentor and advise over 60 student volunteer club sport officersRecruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise 120-150 student staff including graduate assistant(s), program assistant(s), supervisors, scorekeepers, and officialsDevelop, implement, supervise, and evaluate creation and marketing of team and individual activities, competition scheduling, registration procedures, event planningRepresent department at state, regional, and/or national industry sporting eventsPurchase and maintain intramural sports equipment and inventoryRequired QualificationsEducational RequirementsBachelor's Degree in recreation, management, or a related fieldRequired ExperienceOne (1) or more years of related work experiencePreferred QualificationsMembership and active participant in NIRSACPR/AED FA Instructor certifiedActive football, basketball, soccer, baseball, or softball officialMaster's DegreeExperience within a University settingExperience planning and hosting large scale eventsExperience working or coordinating with state, regional, or national sporting events and/or governing bodiesSupervisory experienceProposed Salary$19.75 – $21.97 per hourThis is a non‑exempt position paid on a biweekly basisRequired Documents to AttachResumeCover LetterTwo (2) Professional ReferencesKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesABILITIESConsistently exhibit engaging customer serviceAbility to support various constituencies served by the UniversityProven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific positionAbility to demonstrate good sportsmanship and highest level of personal integrityKNOWLEDGEAdhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student successDemonstrated commitment to athletic and academic excellence and an understanding of and commitment to comply with NCAA, Sun Belt Conference, Coastal Collegiate Sports Association, and institutional athletic rules and regulationsSKILLSEffective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skillsBackground CheckStandard + EducationEqual Employment OpportunityGeorgia Southern University provides equal opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, religion, age, veteran status, political affiliation, or disability.
