Do you love soccer, flag football, and/or cross country and want to help youth enjoy these activities too? Want to positively influence youth (ages 5 to 14) as they learn the rules, develop their skills, practice good sportsmanship, and have fun?
We are looking for positive, responsible, and dependable individuals who can make sure the rules and spirit of these activities are followed, encourage fair play with a focus on fun, and put the safety of all players and spectators first. You must be able to deal with participants, coaches, parents, and spectators in a positive, reassuring, courteous, and professional manner and are expected to provide a high level of customer service to recreation program participants. The Citys Sports Team is an innovative and collaborative group committed to encouraging exercise through participation, establishing life-long fundamentals of fairness, and promoting recreational opportunities and interests that contribute to the health and well-being of the Gaithersburg community.
Fall sports programs will start September 12, 2026, and run through mid-November. Staff must attend some preliminary meetings to review department policies and program expectations.
Starting hourly rate will be within the range and will be offered at a level consistent with experience and qualifications of the candidate. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees. Hours per week will vary based on operational needs, but will generally not exceed an average of 6 to 12 hours per week; you must be able to work weekends.
