Description

General Description (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.)

Operates a gas or electric hilo or other drivable equipment requiring an operator's license to receive, transport, store and deliver materials, finished goods and component parts to and within production areas or storage areas. Follows verbal or written instructions, such as bills of materials, shipping documents, or production schedules. Safely moves and stacks materials in and about the plant, warehouse, staging area, production areas, etc. Work often includes getting off the hilo to deal with paperwork, band/secure/straighten loads, adjust fork width, stock supermarkets, setup production areas, etc. May also involve use of bar code readers, computer terminals or other electronic devices to track product. Reviews equipment maintenance checklist daily and reports any malfunctions. Maintains required repair records.

Requirements Profile (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.)

Skills/Abilities

  • Able to frequently work seated while able to bend and twist as needed to operate the Hilo safely.
  • Able to frequently get on or off the Hilo as needed to properly service assigned areas.
  • Able to occasionally lift 35 lbs. from floor to waist; lift 50lbs from waist to shoulders; and push / pull up to 15 lbs.
  • Able to frequently carry 35-55 lbs.
  • Able to reach forward, laterally and occasionally over the shoulders.
  • Able to occasionally grasp with moderate force.
  • Able to rotate to other work in the zone, department, division or plant as required.
  • May be required to visually inspect for defects, read blueprints and use measuring tools (e.g. calipers, linear measuring machine, fixtures etc.) to ensure that parts are within quality specifications when rotating into a production assignment.
  • Able to maintain a Hilo license and be capable of operating a radio within FCC regulations.
  • Must be organized and capable of planning routes to maximize efficiency and prevent production delays.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent may be required.
