Job Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY:

Leads, supports, and prioritizes the activities of production work teams and Team Facilitators. Ensures that products produced meet the customer needs in the areas of cost, quality and delivery. Ensures that a safe work environment is maintained at all times. Participates in continuous improvement activities in support of the Magna Donnelly Production System.

JOB DUTIES:

The duties listed below will be performed at both levels within the organization. At level I, under general work direction, works with primarily non-exempt employees with generally similar occupational skills, employees with relatively limited scope and impact, and/or employees in a single function. The activities supervised range from routine to somewhat complex, but the impact of decisions involve limited risk to business operations. Primarily responsible to implement and accomplish plans and strategies developed elsewhere. At level II, under minimal work direction, supervises primarily non-exempt employees which generally have similar occupational skills, relatively limited scope and impact, as well as employees with more complex skills and duties in a single function. Complexity may be defined as supervision of a broader range of processes, teams, or skill areas or a larger group of employees. The activities supervised can range from routine to moderately complex and impact of decisions involve moderate risk to business operations. Primarily responsible to implement and accomplish plans and strategies developed elsewhere.

1. Assists manufacturing engineering and quality control in establishing quality standards and checks. Applies principles of statistical process control when appropriate. Identifies opportunities for common mistake proofing. Translates control plans to in-process-control-sheets.

2. Anticipates safety, quality and productivity problems in work area and takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or actions. Responsible for proper handling, storage, and disposal of all chemicals, used materials and equipment. Ensures employees are appropriately trained in recognizing hazards associated and specific to their job. Discusses safety in team meetings, completes safety inspections on a routine basis, and ensures compliance with all Health and Safety and ISO14001 policies and procedures. Leads accident/incident investigations. Promotes 5S activities in all work cells. Assists in conducting risk assessment on new and/or modified equipment and/or processes. Conducts performance appraisals for workers' safety performance and corrects or commends health and safety performance.

3. Staffs work cells to "takt time". Maintains vacation, overtime, off-line training and relief schedules. Analyzes weekly/monthly production performance reports and initiates appropriate action. Identifies when and how to use temporary performance tracking tools (tally sheets). Monitors utilization of kanban - JIT systems. Uses standardized work as a management tool.
4. Manages multi-skill development of employees using on-the-job training and training matrices. Presents new information to large and small groups. Administers and applies company policy consistently and fairly. Provides constructive feedback to all employees regularly. Establishes individual development plans by determining needed skills and knowledge. Participates in the hiring of new employees by interviewing candidates effectively and legally. Develops team competence with System 5. Orientates new team members on processes, policies, procedures and people. Responsible for maintaining and developing team morale.
