Summary:
The Clinical and Business Intelligence (CBI) SQL Administrator assists the Director, Clinical and Business Intelligence in creating and maintaining complex data in SQL databases across the Catholic Health (CH) at an expert level, including Epic. The programmer's primary responsibilities will be to program, create and alter database objects, including tables, stored procedures, integration services packages and exports to support the ongoing and future needs of the clinical and business intelligence and CH. Multiple systems and applications may be worked with simultaneously to develop combined data usable for complex reporting. Database specs will need to be interpreted when available, and database analysis sufficient to make data usable may need to be completed from scratch when those details are not provided. Prepares specifications and documentation related to systems, and provides support for specified projects, knowing the CBI requirements and technical specifications to support the work. This advanced programmer will be a resource for other Information Technology team members and CHS leaders. It is expected that the person in this position will become the foremost expert on SQL databases at CHS.
The SQL Administrator does so at an advanced complexity and competency and is a resource to IT team members. Procedures for the job are general and work is minimally supervised. The associate knows and analyzes procedures, interprets and adapts them with discretion as necessary.
CHS Enterprise EMR and Enterprise collaboration recognized with preference
Epic Cogito and Database Certifications recognized with preference. Certifications will be required within one year.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years of SQL programming experience, and familiarity with working in multiple databases
Expert level SQL programming knowledge, including SQL Server Agent use across multiple platforms
Ability to analyze existing SQL code to understand how databases work and what is needed to meet current and future reporting needs
Advanced computer experience required, with personal computer applications and larger systems
Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred
Knowledge of joining databases from different systems, normalizing data, so that data from all of them can be reporting out in one created dataset
Knowledge of SQL server execution plans and how to use them to optimize code preferred
Able to interpret and optimize SSMS execution plans
Outstanding organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrated track record of being able to work effectively independently
Demonstrated ability to proactively analyze and anticipate impacts of changes or modifications, technical or operational, to assigned areas
Ability to establish good working relationships with hospital staff at all levels of the organization
Previous Epic certification(s) preferred
Previous healthcare information systems support experience strongly preferred
Enterprise Collaboration software such as Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence) experience is preferred
Experience implementing and supporting vendor data requests according to specs.
Experience with analytics and reporting tools such as Microstrategy, PowerBI or Tableau
Experience supporting a complex enterprise structure, with multiple legal organizations
Experience with mission critical, highly available, enterprise environments (including dev/test/prod)
Understanding of query execution plans and how to optimize them greatly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and track record of facilitating discussions and decision making
Demonstrated advanced skills with personal computer applications, including Windows, and Microsoft Office applications
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to establish excellent working relationships with hospital staff and vendor staff at all levels
Ability and means to travel among CH sites
Advanced knowledge of systems analysis concepts, techniques, tools, and standards
Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting deadlines and to deliver repeatedly on tight timelines and demanding schedules
Demonstrated track record of excellent project and system documentation
Ability to configure changes involving system upgrades, patches, testing, issue resolution
Demonstrated ability to proactively analyze and anticipate impacts of changes or modifications, technical or operational, to a complex environment.
Ability to successfully complete any required training and/or certifications pertinent to software support
