This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting the accounting team's objectives.This position requires working onsite in one of our offices in Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, or Birmingham, AL.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral AccountingManage monthly close processesPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statementsMaintain fixed asset records and process monthly depreciationPerform complex account analysis and resolve discrepanciesReview and analyze account variances and trendsSupport annual audit process and tax return preparationMonthly sales tax auditing and filing within AvalaraOccasional over-time work may be required to meet deadlinesFinancial ReportingAssist in preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentationGenerate ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as neededProcess ImprovementIdentify and implement accounting process improvementsDocument and maintain accounting policies and proceduresTechnical LeadershipServe as subject matter expert for technical accounting issuesAssist in special projects and system implementationsSupport development of accounting policiesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance3+ years of accounting experienceStrong knowledge of GAAPAdvanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, etc)Experience with ERP system IntacctExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExperience with sales tax automation softwarePreferred QualificationsCPA certificationPublic accounting experienceExperience with ERP systems, Intacct preferredAdvanced degree in Accounting or related fieldMSP or MSSP experienceTechnical SkillsAdvanced Excel proficiency (vlookups, pivot tables, macros)Experience with major ERP systemsUnderstanding of internal control frameworksKnowledge of financial reporting toolsProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteProfessional CompetenciesStrong attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to work independentlyGood project management skillsProblem-solving orientationTeam collaboration abilitiesSuccess MetricsComplete month-end close within 5 business daysMaintain 100% accuracy in account reconciliationsMeet all reporting deadlinesAchieve clean external audit resultsComplete special projects on time and within scopeTravel - No travelSedentary work.
