Our mission is to empower nonprofit organizations by streamlining administrative functions, ensuring financial clarity, and supporting operational excellence.Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team. This role is integral to maintaining the financial health of our nonprofit clients by ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with internal controls, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the flexibility to work both remotely and onsite with clients as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & Receivable: Record and track accounts payable and receivable, process bill payments, record deposits, and make necessary accounting entries to accurately track and report revenues, expenses, assets, liabilities, and fund balances.Bank Reconciliations: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.Internal Controls: Adhere to and enforce internal controls to maintain compliance and financial integrity, while supporting team members in following best practices.Financial Reporting: Prepare standard financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a monthly basis.Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit financial regulations.Qualifications & Skills3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably within the nonprofit sector.Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (or similar accounting software) and Microsoft Excel.Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting.Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritize tasks effectively.Detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive in identifying and resolving discrepancies.Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.Candidates must be located in the New York Metro area and be open to working onsite for clients as needed.Why Join Carey & Co?Opportunity to support mission-driven organizations making an impact.Flexible, hybrid work environment.Collaborative and supportive team culture.Competitive compensation based on experience.If you are passionate about nonprofit finance and have the expertise to provide high-quality accounting services, wed love to hear from you!#J-18808-Ljbffr
