Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the general accounting operations of the business by controlling and verifying all financial transactions. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for reconciling account balances, bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing for month-end closing procedures. The Senior Accountant should have a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and an ability to analyze various financial reports. We expect the Senior Accountant to provide accurate data-based reports on the company's profitability, solvency, stability, and liquidity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with end of month and end of year close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and general ledger accounts.
- Assist with internal and external audit preparations to ensure compliance.
- Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
- Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
- Liaise with controls and finance to improve financial procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of ERP systems and related technologies.
- Advanced ability to meet and exceed constant deadlines.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft office suit (Excel) including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, or similar role in accounting.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or similar field required.
- Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) or master's degree a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to carry and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- This position will require sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, bending, and using fine motor skills, such as finger dexterity.
