• Must be local to Dallas/Fort Worth area preferred to come to office at Farmers Branch, TX as necessary.
• Clean credit history as reported by credit report
• Generally we are looking for a senior accountant that has strong month-end close experience in a multi-location environment.
• We want to be able to turn over entire processes to them to own that will free up others to focus on the SAP project.
• This would include month end close responsibility (journal entries), account recons, intercompany billing, ad hoc research, etc.
• They must have advanced Excel (index match, power pivot, etc)
• Sage 300 strongly preferred Oracle (Hyperion/Essbase) strongly preferred

Job Description

• Performs complex professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions. Prepares financial statements, insurance department and other regulatory filings, and performs analyses.
• Ensures the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity. Prepares work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
• Researchs and analyzes fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior months, and budgeted amounts. Works with independent auditors and insurance department auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
• Prepares insurance department quarterly and annual statements including the conversion from GAAP accounting to statutory accounting. Recommends changes in accounting systems and procedures.
• Assist business partners with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities.
• Reviews the work completed by the bookkeepers, bank reconcilers and accounts payable clerks to ensure accurate financial transactions. Assists in the training of technical and clerical personnel.

Job Specification

• Typically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of accounting related experience, including working in a lead and/or training capacity
• 4+ years of experience using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP and statutory accounting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in spreadsheet applications
• Clean credit history as reported by credit report
• Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment the in performance of his/her job duties
