SR Accountant- Government Contracting

Sparks Group in partnership with a government contractor is seeking a Senior Accountant.  As the Sr Accountant you will work with a small team and will be responsible for the company’s day to day accounting operations (General Ledger, journal entries, month end close, reconciliations, reporting, etc).  The ideal candidate is a self-starter and quick learner who has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, 5 years of accounting experience (including government accounting experience), who has worked in a large ERP system and has strong Excel skills. • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank/credit card statements, and lines of credit while assisting with timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures.
• Oversee day-to-day transaction processing, including Accounts Payable bills, credit card transactions, and Accounts Receivable invoicing.
• Prepare and file Sales & Use Tax, process annual 1099s, and support overall audit and tax compliance requirements.
• Analyze project status and month-end reports to deliver actionable financial insights while serving as a key finance contact for internal teams, vendors, and clients.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or related)
• 5 years' experience in an accounting role working extensively with general ledgers.
• Experience in government accounting.
• Experience with large ERP systems, JAMIS experience highly preferred
• Proficiency in MS Office with strong Excel skills

Pay Range: Salary $90,000.00 to $100,000.00
