UTHealth Houston's Behavioral Sciences Campus, the largest academic psychiatric hospital in the country, is hiring Admissions Coordinators to join our Admissions team! Schedule, with rotating weekends and holidays:3pm to 11:30pmThe John S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center and Harris County Psychiatric Center at UTHealth Houston create our Behavioral Sciences Campus. BSC offers individualized inpatient treatment options for a variety of behavioral health disorders across the 23 units on-site. These units include treatment in child/adolescent, adult/geriatric, co-occurring disease, psychosis, and competency restoration units. The Senior Admissions Coordinator provides guidance, mentoring, and operational support to Admissions Coordinators, promotes adherence to hospital policies and regulatory requirements, collaborates with nursing leadership and physicians, and assists in resolving workflow issues to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality patient admissions.is responsible for managing and facilitating the patient admission process. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this role.All BSC employees go through a mandatory 2-week hospital-wide orientation. Position Summary:Under general supervision, the Senior Admissions Coordinator performs a variety of moderately complex tasks to include the communication and coordination of pre-admissions and admissions functions. Assists with the development of staff schedules and distributes assignments and workloads.Position Key Accountabilities:Assist the director with the development of the department''s work schedule and with the monitoring of staff assignments and workloads.In the absence of the manager and director respond to grievances and complaints.Conducts special studies and projects as assigned; researches information, reconciles daily reports.Handles inquiries, collects and processes documents, record keeps, and reports complications for all pre-admissions, direct admissions, walk-ins, and warrants.Coordinates bed allocation and cancellations between HCPI, Probate Courts, and MHMRA services and the Centers of Excellence Units at HCPC.Uses insurance software systems to search for patients in government sponsored insurance programs.Reviews all clinical and financial packets to determine completeness and account for all admissions and pre-admits.Performs all discharges, transfers, programs changes in the software system.May provide patient property control and conducts searches of all patient property and belongings.May interview and communicate with patient and family members to obtain information.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills: NoneMinimum Education:Associate''s Degree or relevant experience in lieu of education requiredMinimum Experience:3 years of related experience requiredPhysical Requirements:Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
