Under general direction from the Manager, Payroll, the Senior Payroll Tax Analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for payroll tax and oversees all payroll tax administration. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across a high-volume, multi-state environment with numerous FEINs.
The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst partners closely with a Tax Specialist and works cross-functionally with Payroll, Accounting, and external agencies. This position includes responsibility for tax registrations, reconciliation of payroll tax accounts, and resolution of complex tax issues. The Analyst will regularly interact with state and federal agencies, external auditors, and internal stakeholders, including Account Managers within Accounting, to research and resolve discrepancies.
The Analyst’s time is spent planning, coordinating, and administering payroll tax requirements, including managing high-volume registrations, resolving agency notices, making payments, reviewing refunds, and ensuring accurate reporting. This position requires a highly detail-oriented professional with strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with both executive leadership and team members.
