1. Overview / Summary

Our Client is seeking a senior-level CAD Administrator to lead enterprise CAD strategy, governance, system administration, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for managing AutoCAD environments, developing standards and best practices, driving automation and system integration efforts, and supporting digital transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader and advisor, collaborating with engineering, design, IT, and project teams while providing mentorship, training, and advanced support to CAD users across the organization.

2. Key Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the organization's CAD strategy, roadmap, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain CAD standards, governance models, templates, libraries, and best practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on CAD technologies, workflows, and emerging solutions.
  • Mentor CAD users, power users, and junior CAD administrators.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, design, IT, and project teams.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, upgrades, deployment, and lifecycle management of AutoCAD and related platforms.
  • Manage enterprise licensing, network deployments, cloud integrations, and system performance optimization.
  • Troubleshoot complex CAD system issues and coordinate resolution efforts with IT teams and software vendors.
  • Conduct audits to ensure quality, consistency, compliance, and adherence to CAD standards.
  • Manage version control processes, documentation standards, and release management activities.
  • Develop and implement CAD customizations, scripts, APIs, and automation solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and support third-party CAD tools and integrations.
  • Lead CAD data management initiatives, including file structures, naming conventions, data retention, and archival processes.
  • Integrate CAD platforms with document management, BIM, PLM, and related enterprise systems.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, accessibility, and governance across design teams.
  • Provide advanced technical support and issue resolution for CAD users.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, standards documentation, and user guides.
  • Promote adoption of standards, tools, and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Partner with project managers and stakeholders to align CAD deliverables with project schedules and quality requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, IT teams, software vendors, and project teams.
  • Support large-scale, complex projects requiring advanced CAD coordination and administration.

3. Primary Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 7+ years of professional AutoCAD experience, including advanced system administration and technical support.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a CAD administration, lead CAD, or CAD management role.
  • Deep expertise in AutoCAD configuration, customization, deployment, and standards development.
  • Strong understanding of CAD system administration, governance, and enterprise support.
  • Experience developing and enforcing CAD standards, templates, and quality control processes.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience developing training materials and supporting user adoption initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement efforts.

4. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the broader Autodesk ecosystem, including Civil 3D, Revit, MEP, Inventor, Navisworks, and related platforms.
  • Programming and scripting experience using AutoLISP, VBA, .NET, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with enterprise software deployment tools and cloud-based collaboration platforms.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows, digital twin technologies, and PLM systems.
  • Experience integrating CAD platforms with systems such as Autodesk Vault, Forma, or other document management solutions.
  • Experience leading CAD/BIM teams, enterprise standardization programs, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and team development experience.
  • Strong background in process optimization, workflow automation, and operational efficiency improvements.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance and standards compliance.
