Job Description

Job Title: Senior Azure Automation Engineer: Intune & Endpoint Analytics
Primary Location: Remote, MUST BE based in the US
Position Type: 6 Month Contract, No Third Parties

Overview
TalentFish is currently seeking a hands-on Senior Azure Automation Engineer for our premier client. This is a fully remote, six-month contract opportunity.

Our client has completed the design and initial proof-of-concept work for a centralized Microsoft device and fleet-health reporting solution. They now need an experienced engineer to build, productionize, secure, and stabilize the solution.

This engineer will integrate device, compliance, Endpoint Analytics, Windows Update, and Microsoft 365 service-health data from Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Graph, and other Microsoft platforms. The data will be centralized within Azure Log Analytics and made available to a consolidated Power BI fleet-health dashboard.

This is not a traditional Azure infrastructure role or a Power BI development position. The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of Microsoft Intune, Azure automation, endpoint analytics, Microsoft Graph, Log Analytics, KQL, and Microsoft 365 engineering experience.

What You Bring to the Role. (Ideal Experience)

  • 7+ years of experience in Azure engineering, Microsoft cloud engineering, endpoint engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, including:
    • Device and compliance data
    • Intune diagnostic settings
    • Endpoint Analytics
    • Windows endpoint telemetry and reporting
  • Advanced experience with Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics, including workspace configuration, data ingestion, diagnostic settings, custom tables, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience writing and optimizing Kusto Query Language, or KQL, queries.
  • Hands-on automation experience using PowerShell and Azure Automation runbooks.
  • Experience retrieving and integrating data through Microsoft Graph API or Microsoft Graph PowerShell.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON payloads, authentication, pagination, throttling, retries, and error handling.
  • Experience with Windows Update for Business reporting, Windows update compliance, or enterprise Windows patching telemetry.
  • Experience configuring secure Azure integrations using:
    • Managed identities
    • Azure RBAC
    • Microsoft Entra ID
  • Service principals or application registrations
  • Experience using the Azure Monitor Logs Ingestion API, Data Collection Rules, or comparable Azure ingestion technologies.
  • Experience deploying, validating, or supporting Azure Workbooks.
  • Understanding of how Azure Monitor and Log Analytics data is connected to Power BI for operational reporting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 service-health reporting, Teams call-quality data, application-usage reporting, or related M365 administration and analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience taking a technical solution from proof of concept through production deployment and post-launch stabilization.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Most Important Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Analytics
  • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
  • PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and Azure Automation
  • KQL and Azure data ingestion
  • Windows Update for Business
  • Microsoft 365 service-health reporting
  • Managed identities, RBAC, and Entra ID
  • Azure-to-Power BI data integration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 certifications.
  • Experience with Digital Employee Experience, endpoint-experience, or device fleet-health solutions.
  • Experience with Azure Workbooks, Power BI operational dashboards, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Knowledge of Teams call-quality reporting and Microsoft 365 usage analytics.
  • Experience working within a large, distributed enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting a solution through deployment, hypercare, and operational handoff.
What Success Looks Like
The successful engineer will take an existing design and validated proof-of-concept work and turn it into a secure, automated, production-ready solution. The completed environment will provide centralized visibility into device health, compliance, Endpoint Analytics, Windows updates, and Microsoft 365 service health through Azure and Power BI.

What You'll Do. (Skills Used in this Position)

    • Review the approved architecture, validated proof-of-concept components, and existing technical requirements.
    • Build and productionize the centralized device and fleet-health reporting solution.
    • Configure Microsoft Intune diagnostic settings to send device and compliance information into Azure.
    • Retrieve Endpoint Analytics and related Microsoft data through PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
    • Develop scheduled Azure Automation runbooks to automate recurring data collection.
    • Use the Logs Ingestion API and related Azure services to securely send data into the Log Analytics workspace.
    • Configure and maintain Log Analytics tables for:
    • Intune device and compliance information
    • Endpoint Analytics snapshots
    • Windows Update for Business reporting
    • Integrate Windows Update for Business data to provide visibility into patching, deployment, and update compliance.
    • Write and optimize KQL queries that support device-health analysis, data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting.
    • Configure managed identities, RBAC, and related security controls for automated integrations.
    • Deploy, validate, and troubleshoot Azure Workbooks and monitoring components.
    • Prepare and connect Azure Monitor and Log Analytics data for consumption by the Power BI fleet-health dashboard.
    • Support the integration of Microsoft 365 service-health, Teams call-quality, and application-usage data through available native Power BI connectors.
    • Validate data accuracy, completeness, ingestion timing, and reporting consistency across all source systems.
    • Identify and resolve issues involving automation, Microsoft Graph, authentication, schemas, APIs, telemetry, and data ingestion.
    • Partner with endpoint, Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, security, and business-intelligence teams.
    • Document the architecture, scripts, configurations, data flows, support procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
    • Provide post-production monitoring, aftercare, knowledge transfer, and stabilization support.
