Job Overview:

 

Under the direction of the Director of National Benefits, the Sr. Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration of the benefits programs, maintenance of all benefit records and files, providing superior customer service, addressing escalated requests, processing documentation, payroll and benefit auditing, and managing file interfaces. This position will also provide support with educational program implementations, regulatory compliance, M&A support, and the annual Open Enrollment event. 

 

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • In collaboration with the Director of National Benefits, oversee annual compliance activities such as ACA reporting, 401(k) nondiscrimination testing, and 5500 filings.
  • Support the business objectives by understanding the company’s operations and recommending process improvements to streamline shared service function.
  • Supports the administration of the leave of absence program and assists with employee requests.
  • Act as lead on special projects. Complete comprehensive project plans, execute assignments and tasks, monitor, and control progress and ensure milestones are met, and track successful completion and evaluate performance.
  • Assist with annual compliance activities such as ACA reporting, 401(k) nondiscrimination testing, 401(k) audit and open enrollment in collaboration with the Benefits Manager.
  • Performs routine data and payroll audits—both pre- and post-processing—to ensure accurate eligibility management and payroll deductions, while proactively identifying gaps or issues in file interface transmissions.
  • Coordinates new client on-boarding activities and client contract update workflows.
  • Collaborate with the Benefits Team to coordinate initiatives involving change management and strategic communication planning.
  • Handles QMCSO, QDRO, Medicare and Medicaid transactions, including communication with employees and government agencies or legal representatives.
  • Other duties as required.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Hands-on benefits work experience.
  • Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal skills with all levels of employees.
  • 4 years of experience administering benefits for a large employer.
  • A strong team player with the ability to enforce the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Competency in multiple software programs and self-sufficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of the following employee benefits: life, AD&D, disability, medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, accident, hospital, critical illness, prepaid legal, identity theft, and 401(k) plans.
  • Experience with COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, IRS 125, FMLA, ACA.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to lift 10-15 lbs.
