Sr. Biostatistician

This position is supported through a formal partnership between Summa Health and the University of Akron. The selected individual will serve in a collaborative capacity, contributing to research initiatives at Summa Health while maintaining an affiliated academic role with the University of Akron. It is expected that 20% of the individual's time/effort to be spent at the University of Akron.

Summary:
Supports faculty, residents and fellows and research academic development by assisting in the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical, translational, observational research projects and/or quality improvement initiatives. Serves as expert with advanced knowledge in statistical programming and provides input on study design selection, data collection, data interpretation, sample size and power calculation. Also, assists with developing statistical methods sections and analytical plans for research protocols, grant applications, and publications. Performs data analyses using advanced statistical tools, derives variables using statistical software, cleans data, and prepares organized and clear summaries of analysis results. Develops and provides training and educational sessions on biostatistics.
Minimum Qualifications:
a. PhD in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, data science or a related field
b. Additional coursework in epidemiology, public health, biology, or medicine, preferred
a. Advanced knowledge in data analysis and statistical programming using SAS, SPSS, R, Python, SQL, or similar
b. Four (4) or more years of experience in a statistician or data analyst capacity
c. Experience contributing to the writing of manuscripts, abstracts, and other publications documenting study findings, preferred
d. Healthcare experience, preferred
e. Experience in using REDCap for data collection and management, preferred
a. Strong knowledge of statistical techniques,
b. Ability to work in a collaborative environment with faculty and researchers with different quantitative and clinical backgrounds
c. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple projects within established timelines.
d. Advanced computer skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases and graphics
e. Demonstrated ongoing commitment to continuous professional growth, development and excellence required
f. Ability to direct own work efforts to assure desired and contracted outcomes
g. Maintain confidentiality of hospital patient information.
h. Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity as well as all levels of medical staff
a. Sedentary: Exerts up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
