This role offers a clear long-term growth path into a Chief Estimator position for the right candidate.

The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing accurate bids for steel bridge fabrication projects by analyzing client scopes, preparing material and labor takeoffs, evaluating subcontractor pricing, developing cost strategies, and delivering complete proposals. This individual will also mentor junior estimators and support continuous improvement within the estimating department.

  • Review RFPs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate proposals

  • Prepare detailed material and labor takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid documentation

  • Estimate fabrication labor, materials, transportation, subcontracted services, and project indirect costs

  • Analyze project scope, constructability, logistics, and potential risks

  • Review supplier and subcontractor pricing and support procurement strategies

  • Develop bid assumptions, clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities

  • Lead estimate reviews and present proposals to executive leadership

  • Prepare change order pricing and maintain historical cost data

  • Mentor junior estimators and provide technical guidance on complex bids

  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8–12 years of estimating, fabrication, manufacturing, or related experience supporting heavy civil, bridge, or structural steel projects

  • Direct experience estimating steel bridge fabrication projects required

  • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication methods, production processes, and project execution

  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and contract documents

  • Knowledge of DOT standards, AWS requirements, AREMA, and AISC specifications

  • Understanding of welding processes and AWS welding symbols

  • Ability to visualize fabrication and assembly processes and apply labor assumptions

  • Advanced estimating skills with the ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with MS Project and CPM project scheduling preferred

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience estimating DOT, highway, railroad, or major infrastructure bridge projects

  • Experience working with engineers, contractors, and government agencies

  • Experience mentoring and developing junior estimating staff

  • Knowledge of fabrication equipment, production methods, and procurement strategies

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Base Salary: $100,000–$140,000 DOE

  • Relocation assistance available

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package

  • Long-term growth path into a Chief Estimator role

  • Strong backlog of work providing long-term stability

  • Opportunity to lead estimating efforts on major infrastructure projects
