This individual is the primary decision‑maker and is looking to offload day‑to‑day engineering responsibilities to allow greater focus on strategic growth and team leadership.The Position:The Senior Building Automation Engineer serves as the primary engineering authority for all building automation construction projects. This role owns the engineering lifecycle from early handoff through design, submittals, material coordination, field support, and closeout. The engineer translates sales‑developed concepts into fully engineered, executable BAS solutions and acts as the technical bridge between sales, programmers, electricians, and field technicians. The position requires strong independent judgment, deep BAS design experience, and the ability to operate without an engineer above them.Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):Lead the engineering and design of building automation systems for construction projectsConvert sales estimates and concepts into complete BAS designs and approved submittalsDevelop controller layouts, control networks, addressing schemes, and system architecturesCreate and refine sequences of operation for mechanical equipmentCoordinate with architects, engineers, programmers, electricians, and field techniciansOrder materials and track delivery to support installation schedulesProvide ongoing engineering support throughout project executionResolve field issues and design conflicts as they ariseMaintain accurate documentation from design through project closeoutProduce final as‑built documentation reflecting actual installation conditionsParticipate in internal and external project meetings as neededQualifications:Proven experience engineering building automation systems for construction projectsDemonstrated ability to independently create BAS submittalsStrong understanding of HVAC systems, BAS hardware, software, and control strategiesWorking knowledge of BACnet and IP‑based control networksAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environmentStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skillsAbility to work independently with minimal oversightEducation and Experience:Five or more years of building automation system design experienceDirect experience producing BAS submittals for commercial or institutional constructionBachelor's degree in an engineering or technical discipline preferredExperience with Siemens building automation platforms preferred but not requiredFamiliarity with Modbus and LON protocols is a plusCompetencies:Independent technical decision‑makingStrong attention to detail and design accuracyProject ownership and accountabilityEffective cross‑functional communicationAdaptability within a growing organizationAbility to support and guide junior technical staff through collaborationWork Environment:This is an on‑site role within a metropolitan market.
