Sr Business Analyst

Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Senior Business Analyst Job in Middletown, CT. This contract job is available with one of our key customers in the public safety and government sector. In this role, you will play a crucial part in an IT project focused on the consumption, maintenance, and dissemination of fingerprint- and non-fingerprint-supported criminal history information. Under minimal supervision, you will coordinate, gather, analyze, and document requirements for ongoing system maintenance, operations, and project change requests while working with internal technical and business teams, vendor software development and quality assurance teams, and peer agency systems teams. To be successful in this position, you must have experience in business analysis, technical and functional documentation, public safety or public-sector environments, and state and federal CJIS security compliance requirements.

Senior Business Analyst Job Responsibilities:

• Research, write, edit, and proofread technical and functional documentation while gathering and analyzing business requirements related to criminal history systems.
• Conduct interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges, identify opportunities for process improvement, and assist with plans for future system enhancements.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and vendor teams to ensure requirements documentation is accurate and comprehensive, while organizing and presenting complex technical information in a user-friendly manner.
• Collect and analyze data from existing internal and external systems and subject matter expert feedback to identify gaps, challenges, and potential risks, and document issues, findings, and recommendations.
• Foster collaboration with vendor providers, IT professionals, system users, external agencies, and other stakeholders while participating in meetings, workshops, and presentations and completing assigned responsibilities on time and in full.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with coursework in technology, supply chain management, business, criminal justice, or a closely related field and a minimum of 5 years of professional-level experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience in public safety or the public sector, with experience working with state and federal CJIS security compliance requirements.
• Experience with criminal justice information systems projects and demonstrated experience in the Business Analysis domain.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with demonstrated experience writing, organizing, reviewing, and editing technical and functional documents.
• Possess a growth mindset, demonstrate initiative in work assignments, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A Master's degree in Information Systems, Atlassian JIRA experience, SQL/RDMS experience, or familiarity with formal specification methods is preferred.
