Sr. Business Analyst/Scrum Master

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Business Analyst/Scrum Master to support complex, client-facing technology initiatives in a fast-paced Agile environment. This Sr. BA/Scrum Master will work closely with client stakeholders, product owners, developers, quality assurance teams, and Project Leadership to translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable requirements. The ideal candidate has direct experience leading Scrum ceremonies, guiding work through the Agile development lifecycle, and building trusted relationships with clients. This is not an order-taking business analyst role; it requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable moving work forward independently as priorities shift.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with client stakeholders and product owners to clarify business objectives, technical needs, and project priorities.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and supporting documentation.
  • Facilitate requirement-gathering sessions, story mapping, backlog refinement, sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Work with product owners and delivery teams to prioritize the backlog, build roadmaps, and ensure stories meet the team's definition of ready.
  • Break down complex initiatives into smaller, executable pieces of work.
  • Serve as a liaison between client stakeholders, product owners, developers, quality assurance teams, and other technical and non-technical partners.
  • Identify risks, issues, dependencies, gaps, and delivery impediments and proactively drive them toward resolution.
  • Collaborate with project teams and leadership to develop estimates, timelines, and potential solution approaches.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and next steps clearly to clients and internal leadership.
  • Help teams remain aligned, accountable, and focused as priorities and business needs change.
  • Support desk checks, ad hoc testing, user acceptance testing, and post-production validation as needed.
  • Quickly learn new client environments, industries, systems, and business processes.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, Scrum Master, Project Manager, or in a similar technology delivery role.
  • Hands-on experience working throughout an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Direct experience personally leading Scrum ceremonies rather than only participating in them.
  • Extensive experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
  • Proven ability to break down complex business or technical problems into clear, manageable components.
  • Experience working directly with clients, product owners, or senior business stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and become a trusted, go-to resource.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently without significant oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, take initiative, and move work forward without waiting for direction.

Preferred

  • Certified ScrumMaster or comparable Scrum certification.
  • Agency, consulting, professional services, or other highly client-facing experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple clients, industries, projects, or technology environments.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience documenting non-functional requirements involving security, scalability, performance, accessibility, or SEO.
  • Experience coaching team members and improving Agile delivery practices.

This is a 6-month Contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client. Employee benefits include Medical/Dental Benefits, Paid time off, Paid Holidays, and 401(k). H1-B Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. No third-parties, please.
