    Senior Business Data Analyst

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Director or Senior Manager, Data Governance, the Senior Business Data Analyst ensures business applications provide complete, accurate, and timely data to support operational and strategic decision-making. The role is responsible for maintaining data integrity, improving data quality, supporting data governance initiatives, and collaborating with business and technology teams to ensure reliable enterprise data.

    The incumbent develops data quality controls, performs business and data analysis, supports enterprise systems and data processes, and partners with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver effective data solutions. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Develop and maintain data governance standards, controls, and processes;recommend continuous improvements.
    • Monitor data quality, investigate issues, and implement controls to improve data integrity across enterprise systems.
    • Perform business and data analysis to identify root causes and coordinate issue resolution with stakeholders and vendors.
    • Support enterprise applications, including configuration, user support, troubleshooting, and system enhancements.
    • Participate in system implementations, upgrades, testing, and production support activities.
    • Document business requirements, processes, data flows, and functional specifications.
    • Manage master and reference data to ensure consistency across integrated systems.
    • Support vendor management activities, including service reviews, contract administration, and invoice reconciliation.
    • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and contribute to enterprise data governance and process improvement efforts.
    • Mentor team members and serve as a subject matter expert for data governance and business analysis.
    • Provide operational support and backup for critical business processes as required.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
    • 7 years of experience in data management, business systems, data governance, business analysis, or related roles.
    • Post-secondary education in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and enterprise data management principles.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
    • Experience working with enterprise applications, relational databases, and integrated business systems.
    • Proficiency with SQL and advanced Microsoft Excel;experience with Python, ETL processes, reporting tools, or cloud platforms is an asset.
    • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM), data quality tools, and AI-enabled process automation is an asset.
    • Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, and stakeholder management.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
