ARC Group is seeking an experienced
Senior IT Business Systems Analyst for a long-term, remote contract opportunity with the potential for
extension and/or conversion to a permanent position.
This is an excellent opportunity for a
technical, data-focused Business Systems Analyst with experience in the healthcare, medical, or health insurance domain. The ideal candidate will be a versatile problem solver who can work across multiple applications, systems, and initiatives.
Only candidates with Business Systems Analyst experience supporting the healthcare, medical, or health insurance domain will be considered.
Position Overview
This is not a role focused on one specific project. The team is looking for a strong Senior BSA who can serve as a
“Jack of All Trades” and adapt to a variety of business and technical initiatives.
The primary focus of this role is
data. The Senior BSA will analyze existing systems and data, work closely with business and technical partners, and help define how information should be classified, extracted, secured, stored, retrieved, transformed, and integrated across applications.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable getting
“in the weeds” with business partners and stakeholders to understand complex problems and translate business needs into clear technical requirements and solutions.
Several upcoming initiatives will involve
Medicare products and Medicare enrollment changes, making experience in the Medicare and health insurance space highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze complex business needs and translate them into detailed business, functional, and technical requirements.
- Work directly with business partners, stakeholders, and technical teams to gather, clarify, and document requirements.
- Analyze existing applications, systems, processes, interfaces, and underlying data.
- Write and analyze complex SQL queries to investigate, validate, troubleshoot, and better understand data.
- Develop business requirements, functional requirements, technical specifications, user stories, process flows, data flows, mappings, and other technical documentation.
- Partner with developers, architects, data teams, and other IT professionals to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Analyze how data is classified, stored, secured, retrieved, transformed, and integrated across systems.
- Understand the relationship between the user interface, application functionality, and underlying data sources.
- Support data mapping, crosswalks, transformation rules, integrations, and system interfaces.
- Identify upstream and downstream system dependencies and assess the impact of proposed changes.
- Support multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
- Develop test strategies, test scenarios, and test cases and support system testing and user acceptance testing.
- Research and troubleshoot complex business, application, and data-related issues.
- Work with sensitive healthcare and medical information while considering appropriate privacy, security, storage, transmission, and access requirements.
- Support analysis of legacy applications, including data dependencies, retention, archival, migration, retirement, and decommissioning where applicable.
- Build strong relationships and consensus between business stakeholders and technical teams.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, IT Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar technical analyst.
- Direct Business Systems Analyst experience within the healthcare, medical, health insurance, payer, provider, or related healthcare technology domain is required.
- Strong experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders and translating those needs into technical requirements.
- Strong technical and analytical background with the ability to understand complex applications, systems, interfaces, and data.
- Ability to write and understand complex SQL queries.
- Experience with data analysis, data mapping, data transformation, and data validation.
- Strong understanding of data storage and retrieval.
- Experience working with system integrations, interfaces, and data flows.
- Ability to understand how applications and user interfaces interact with underlying data and systems.
- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid SDLC environments.
- Experience creating detailed technical documentation, process flows, functional requirements, system specifications, and data mappings.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple initiatives and priorities.
- Ability to work during Eastern Time Zone business hours is highly preferred. Candidates located in the Central Time Zone will also be considered.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a
Senior Technical Business Systems Analyst with strong healthcare or health insurance domain experience and a deep understanding of data and systems.
This individual should be comfortable working directly with business partners to identify complex problems, analyze existing applications and data, and translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
The strongest candidates will have hands-on experience with
complex SQL, data analysis, data storage and retrieval, data mapping, transformation, integrations, and understanding how data moves through applications and user interfaces.
Experience with
Medicare, payer systems, Medicare enrollment, medical records, clinical data, hospital-to-payer integrations, healthcare EDI, 278/275 transactions, CCDA/C-CDA, OCR/ICR, or zone extraction will be strong differentiators.
This role is ideal for a versatile BSA who can quickly learn new applications and initiatives, work effectively across functional boundaries, and serve as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams.
