Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Sr. Buyer to lead vendor selection and procurement functions. In this role, you will focus on identifying, evaluating, and collaborating with global suppliers for critical industrial components, specifically supporting battery energy storage systems and renewable energy materials. The ideal candidate will secure products and services with a sharp focus on total cost, exceptional quality, and seamless delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Global Sourcing & Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with national and international suppliers to build a cost-effective, resilient, and reliable supply chain.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Represent the procurement department on multi-disciplinary project teams, partnering closely with Systems, Development Engineering, Sales, and Quality Control.
Lifecycle Management: Proactively provide follow-up information to internal teams to mitigate risk and reduce the integration of products entering obsolescence.
Supplier Relationship Management: Assist leadership in establishing strategic partnerships with key suppliers, participating in major contract negotiations, and implementing supplier performance management systems (including KPIs and scorecards).
Purchase Order Management: Execute, review, and place purchase orders for engineering-approved components, ensuring all specifications, drawings, and revision levels are flawlessly referenced.
Quality Assurance: Work hand-in-hand with suppliers to clarify blueprint interpretations, communicate compliance specifications, and eliminate the receipt of non-conforming products.
Financial Administration: Analyze the business impact of international tariffs to find cost-effective solutions; collaborate with the accounting team to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely vendor payments.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible purchasing and material control experience, specifically within the energy or renewable energy industry.
Industry Background: Strong prior experience in an electrical or mechanical systems environment is highly preferred.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and engineering drawings; familiarity with SAP or similar large-scale ERP software is a major plus.
Software Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Core Competencies: Exceptional negotiation skills, a analytical mind for tariff and cost mitigation, and a proven track record of managing global suppliers.
Attributes: A proactive self-starter with high emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the flexibility to adapt to changing purchasing requirements.
