Because tools are our products, engineers on the Xcode team have the unique and rewarding opportunity to apply personal experience to enhance and augment the tools they use every day.The Xcode team is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with a strong passion for developing and maintaining internal tools and CI systems that support Xcode's testing and integration workflows. In this role, you will help accelerate how product engineers land changes, improve the efficiency and reliability of integration and submission pipelines, and enhance developer productivity across the Xcode engineering ecosystem.DescriptionWe're looking for a highly creative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated engineer to design, build, and manage CI systems that are critical to product integration and submission workflows. In this role, you will help architect scalable CI pipelines while balancing short-term execution needs with long-term infrastructure goals.You will design, implement, and deploy tools, automation, and workflows that improve engineering productivity and streamline how developers test, validate, and land changes into builds. You'll actively monitor the health of CI systems and build/test results, analyze failures to identify root causes across both infrastructure and product layers, and drive fixes directly or collaborate with partner teams to maintain a high bar for CI reliability and operational efficiency.You will also help maintain the operational health of the CI environment through routine infrastructure and system maintenance, including build and OS upgrades, credential and certificate management, environment configuration, and overall system upkeep.In addition, you will develop innovative solutions to address scalability and execution challenges within CI systems, reducing operational complexity and long‑term maintenance costs. You will help evolve and operate critical CI infrastructure that supports product development workflows, with the overall goal of amplifying engineering productivity across the Xcode engineering ecosystem.Minimum QualificationsStrong object-oriented programming skills, preferably in Python or Swift5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining tools, test infrastructure, or CI systemsStrong system-level debugging and root‑cause analysis skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teamsDemonstrated ability to leverage AI technologies and workflows to improve engineering efficiency, automation, and productivityB.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience developing and managing large-scale CI environmentsDevelop and deploy applications within containerized environments using Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes on Linux platformsExperience using Git for source control, including branching, code reviews, and collaborative development workflowsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
