JOB SUMMARY
The gift shops are located at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion hospitals. One shop specializes in products and services for cancer patients. In a relatively fast paced, multi-tasked environment, the gift shop associate conducts retail sales, maintains the general upkeep, security and safety awareness in the shop environment. The incumbent shall provide excellent customer care by assisting with general inquiries and assistance while working with the gift shop team to achieve operational objectives. Maintains the objectives of the medical center and department. This person understands the mission of UCSF Health and applies the mission to the customer experience and the merchandising of product.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of Retail Sales experience in a face-paced environment.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Flexibility to work in all UCSF Gift Shops: Parnassus, Mission Bay (2), and Mount Zion; variety of hours including weekends and holidays.
Cash handling experience using POS systems, credit card terminals and Apple pay.
Customer service with a positive attitude, friendly and pleasant demeanor over the phone and in person
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Previous experience in a healthcare retail environment
Proficiency in using computer systems such as word processing, spreadsheets, creating signage, marketing on social media, and website

Ability to take telephone inquiries and assist with orders with the ability to deliver to patient rooms.
Assist Manager/Assistant Manager with on-going projects
Assist on improving customer experience improvements
Assist Manager/Assistant Manager on reaching out customers with Issues, Special order and maintains a log
20 Cashier
Follows UCSF cash handling procedures
Ensures accuracy and secure transactions with money handling
Opens and closes the store in a timely manner
Responsible for accurate money counts, change fund, deposits for end of day and beginning of day.
Ensures that the safe is Balanace and enough changed for shifts, While Maintains a balance log of Safe and Gift Card balances.
Assist on daily reconciliation, monthly reports, and sales goals
Reports malfunctioning equipment to Assistant Manager/Manager
25 Inventory Management, Ordering and Receiving
Assist Manager/Assistant manager in re-ordering and special orders
Create inventory reports from POS system or do manual counts. Physical counts need to be completed and given to Manager before items are ordered. This is where detail really counts.
Ensures merchandise are restocked promptly as it sells.
Check that merchandise is priced correctly and floor ready.
Organize stock room when time allows
Takes direction from Manager for markdowns
Receives merchandise accurately, reports damages, incorrect quantities, and report to Manager
Enter into POS system, create vouchers for accounting, price items, and store in stockroom until ready to put out.
15 Merchandising
Maintains order and cleanliness of current displays
Restock when merchandise sells
Ability to create displays to generate interest and sales
10 Loss Prevention
Maintains a high level of awareness and customer contact on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone
Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with employees and customers.
Ability to safeguard confidential information and credit card information.
5 Housekeeping
Performs general maintenance and cleanliness of shop
