A leading aerospace precision manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior CMM Programmer to join its growing quality team. This is a high-impact role responsible for developing complex CMM programs, supporting new product launches, improving inspection processes, and serving as the technical expert for dimensional inspection across the organization.
Develop, edit, and optimize CMM programs for complex aerospace components
Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections using CMM equipment and conventional inspection tools
Create and maintain CMM programs utilizing PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar software
Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, and inspection requirements
Support new product introductions by developing inspection methods and validation plans
Troubleshoot dimensional issues and partner with engineering and manufacturing to determine root cause
Establish inspection strategies that improve efficiency while maintaining the highest quality standards
Validate new fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing processes through dimensional analysis
Assist with customer audits, internal audits, and AS9100 quality requirements
Mentor junior inspectors and CMM programmers while serving as a technical resource for the quality department
Maintain calibration records and ensure inspection equipment remains compliant
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inspection accuracy, repeatability, and throughput
5+ years of CMM programming experience in a precision machining environment
Strong experience programming Zeiss, Hexagon, Mitutoyo, or similar CMM equipment
Advanced proficiency with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent CMM programming software
Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
Ability to interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings
Experience inspecting tight-tolerance machined components
Proficient with precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gages, bore gages, optical comparators, and surface plates
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and production teams
Aerospace or defense manufacturing
AS9100 quality systems
First Article Inspection (FAI) to AS9102 standards
SPC, MSA, and statistical analysis
Zeiss CMMs and Calypso software
