
Staff Accountant, Construction/Project Accounting Jobot

Overview:The Senior Construction Accountant is responsible for executing all financial operations related to the company's construction projects. This role includes performing and managing the construction accounting from project initiation to close out for all projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and implementing all processes as specified by the CFO and Corporate Controller. Further, the Senior Construction Accountant will be responsible for the timely processing of all draws and reconciling of included invoices. This person will directly support the construction team and be responsive to their needs and requirements.Responsibilities:Financial Management and accounting in accordance with accepted construction accounting practicesOversee all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and participate in financial reportingEnsure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policiesMonitor project costs, profitability, and financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior managementManage cash flow, including billing, collections, and payment schedules to optimize working capitalTake overall responsibility to produce draw packages in a timely and accurate fashion for delivery to the Accountant of DevelopmentEnsure compliance with payments against approved contractsCoordinate with project managers, estimators, and other departments to ensure seamless financial operationsInternal Controls & Compliance:Maintain and make recommendations for improvements to internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policiesOversee audits, including preparing for and responding to external audit requestsProject Accounting:Manage job costing, ensuring all project costs are accurately tracked and reportedReview and approve project budgets, change orders, and financial forecastsEnsure compliance with financial elements of contracts, lien waivers, and other requirements related to construction accountingWork with Corporate Controller to provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making on project bids, capital investments, and other strategic initiativesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldMinimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction accountingStrong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, percentage of completion accounting, and revenue recognitionProficiency in accounting software, particularly Yardi Job Cost preferredCompetencies:Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insightsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departmentsHigh level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical financial practices#J-18808-Ljbffr
