Sr. Construction Project Manager

The Mechanical Construction Manager owns the field execution of mechanical scope - HVAC, piping, plumbing, and process systems - from pre-construction handoff through commissioning and closeout. This role is the single point of accountability for mechanical safety, schedule, budget, and quality on the project site, coordinating self-perform crews and mechanical subcontractors while serving as the primary technical liaison to the general contractor, design engineers, inspectors, and the owner. Success in this position means installations that are safe, code-compliant, installed right the first time, and turned over on schedule with complete documentation.

• Field execution: Direct day-to-day mechanical installation activities, sequencing crews and subcontractors to meet milestone dates and maintain productive work fronts
• Safety leadership: Enforce site safety programs, lead toolbox talks and JHAs, and drive a zero-incident culture across all mechanical work, including rigging, hot work, and confined-space activities
• Schedule management: Develop and maintain the mechanical portion of the CPM schedule, track progress against plan, identify slippage early, and implement recovery plans
• Cost and change control: Manage labor, equipment, and material costs against budget; review and forecast; and originate, price, and negotiate change orders and RFIs
• Quality and compliance: Verify installations against drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ASME, IMC/UMC, NFPA, local AHJ), and manage inspections, pressure testing, and punch list resolution
• Coordination and BIM: Lead multi-trade coordination and clash resolution, participate in BIM/VDC sessions, and confirm constructibility before fabrication and installation release
• Commissioning and closeout: Oversee startup, testing, and balancing; support the Cx agent through functional performance testing; and deliver O&M manuals, as-builts, warranties, and owner training
• 7+ years in mechanical and plumbing construction, including 3+ years managing contractors, budgets, or schedules (superintendent, CM, or project engineer progression)
• Demonstrated ownership of schedule and cost outcomes - not solely field supervision
• Strong technical command of piping systems, rotating and packaged mechanical equipment, and plumbing systems
• Working knowledge of ASME piping codes, IMC, UPC, NFPA, and local building codes
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite; ability to navigate 3D coordination models (Navisworks, Revizto, or equivalent)
• Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to brief stakeholders and document decisions defensibly
• Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent trade experience
