Build - Senior Consultant / Principal
(Platform Engineering)
What You'll Bring
- Ability to translate business outcomes to technology requirements,
- Ability to communicate to technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience with client or stakeholder presentations.
- Ability to define the solution of a proposal phase or offering development, including planning work and projects.
- At least 3 years of billable professional consulting or professional service experience.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in building software infrastructure and/or platforms.
- Ability to comprehend and troubleshoot complex systems.
- Demonstrable experience in one of the following major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Passion for learning and a proactive work style, able to identify gaps and take action to suggest or implement improvements while also self-managing your responsibilities.
- Hands-on domain expertise in DevOps culture, tooling, delivery methods, and practices.
- Knowledge of designing and implementing end-to-end CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong IaC experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, CrossPlane, Pulumi, etc.) and scripting (Python, Bash)
- Deep experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, GKE, Docker, Helm, etc.
- Hands-on with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, Stackdriver)
- Solid understanding of cloud security and secure CI/CD (DevSecOps)

Nice To Have
- Demonstrable expertise in two of the following major cloud providers: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
- Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, heavy, entertainment, retail, or financial services.
- Experience delivering projects related to AI, developer platforms, or data platforms.
- Understanding of different SDLC approaches (waterfall, agile, etc.) and ability to plan work based on multiple SDLC approaches.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solution Architect / Developer etc., GCP Cloud Engineer / Architect / Developer etc., Azure Developer / Solutions Architect etc.)
- Experience implementing cloud or data governance solutions
- Knowledge of platform engineering concepts and experience with common IDP technologies such as Backstage, Humanitec Orchestrator, etc.
- Experience building serverless computing and event-driven architectures
- Experience with cloud migration and building cloud landing zones

What You'll Do
- Contribute to project proposals and delivery as senior technology consultant.
- Quickly adapt and learn new technologies and/or programming languages to bring high-value delivery to our clients.
- Communicate with clients on project goals, requirements, acceptance criteria, work status, deliverables, outcomes, etc.
- Apply consulting techniques (hypothesis driven, analysis framework, case study, research, etc.) to technical work.
- Design and implement well-architected systems tailored to client needs and desired outcomes.
- Apply reference architectures and proven frameworks to design robust, reliable, and scalable systems.
- Write technical designs and documentation, and provide guidance and training to clients.
- Embrace ambiguous and high complexity situations, collaborating with stakeholders to bring about clarity and a path forward.
- Define work scope and project planning, including work decomposition, dependency management, and risk mitigation for a project workstream.
- Represent Slalom at conferences, meet-ups, and online forums. Expand your network, share thought leadership, and elevate both your personal brand and Slalom's market presence.
