Sr. Consultant, Project Management

As a Sr. Consultant, Project Management, you will lead the successful delivery of large, complex, cross-functional programs and projects in support of Human Resources. You will partner closely with project sponsors and business leaders to drive business value and deliver meaningful outcomes. This is not a traditional project management role as you will operate as a strategic partner and co-owner of outcomes, helping shape initiatives from concept through execution. You'll apply your expertise and judgment to select, tailor, and adapt project management approaches to best fit each project's needs, ensuring success in a dynamic and evolving environment. You may also lead and mentor other project managers, leveraging your experience to guide teams, strengthen execution, and elevate overall project delivery capabilities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead large, complex HR initiatives end-to-end, ensuring successful delivery across scope, timeline, cost, quality, and risk
  • Establish strong partnerships with sponsors, project owners, and cross-functional leaders to define vision, success criteria, and decision frameworks
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, offering strategic guidance, constructively challenging assumptions, and driving informed decision-making
  • Direct all aspects of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and change control
  • Select and tailor project management tools, methodologies, and governance (e.g., agile, predictive, hybrid) based on project needs
  • Adapt project strategies as priorities, risks, or conditions evolve to maintain momentum and protect outcomes
  • Drive clear, actionable communication that promotes transparency, accountability, and alignment across stakeholders
  • Proactively identify risks, issues, and dependencies, and lead mitigation planning and execution
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve complex challenges impacting scope, cost, timeline, quality, and risk
  • Ensure project outcomes align with broader HR and enterprise strategies
  • Act as a subject matter expert in project management best practices, coaching and mentoring team members and peers

What we're looking for:

Must-Haves:

  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional projects or programs in complex environments
  • 57+ years of project management experience aligned to the responsibilities of this role
  • Strong experience applying multiple project management approaches and adapting methods based on context
  • Demonstrated ability to connect project outcomes to broader business and strategic goals
  • Track record of building trusted relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and influence skills
  • Ability to balance structure with flexibilityknowing when to apply rigor vs. simplify
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and change
  • Experience mentoring or coaching others in project management practices
  • Successful track record of completing projects on time, on budget, and within scope
  • Record of strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Nice-to-haves:

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project
  • Curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, including AI, with a willingness to explore how they can enhance project delivery and business outcomes

The pay range for this position is $96,900 - $176,200 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln's total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln's standard benefits package.
