Sr Consultant – SAP Platform Engineering

Duration: 8+ Months
Location: Remote with limited onsite travel to San Diego
Travel Requirement: Approximately 15 onsite days annually across 3 planned week-long trips

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant – SAP Platform Engineering to support the continued development, deployment, automation, and operational management of the SAP 2.0 platform across hybrid and cloud-connected environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Kubernetes platform operations, automation, CI/CD pipeline development, container engineering, and SAP infrastructure support. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Linux administration, networking, and infrastructure automation, along with experience supporting SAP workloads in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, enhance, and support the SAP 2.0 platform for containerized SAP workloads
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, release, deployment, and promotion processes
• Build and maintain hardened container images, Dockerfiles, and deployment artifacts
• Develop and maintain Helm charts, Kubernetes manifests, OpenShift templates, and YAML configurations
• Create automation and operational tooling using Bash and Go
• Deploy, operate, troubleshoot, and support workloads across:
  • Kubernetes
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • Azure Local
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Support infrastructure, networking, security, and SAP operational requirements
• Troubleshoot issues across compute, storage, networking, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud environments
• Support platform reliability, observability, monitoring, incident response, and lifecycle management
• Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational runbooks
• Collaborate with SAP, infrastructure, networking, application, and security teams

Required Skills & Experience

Platform Engineering & Automation

• Strong CI/CD pipeline development and automation experience
• Strong Bash scripting skills
• Working proficiency with Go development
• Experience building and maintaining Dockerfiles and container images
• Strong Helm chart development experience
• Strong YAML configuration management experience

Kubernetes & Cloud Platforms

• Strong hands-on Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift enterprise environments
• Experience supporting Azure Local and AKS deployments
• Experience with:
  • Persistent volumes
  • Secrets and config maps
  • Ingress and networking
  • Init containers and sidecars
  • Container lifecycle management

Infrastructure & Networking

• Strong Linux administration experience, preferably Red Hat / RHEL
• Strong networking knowledge including:
  • DNS
  • TCP/IP
  • Routing
  • Firewalls
  • Load balancing
  • Enterprise connectivity troubleshooting
• Ability to troubleshoot across infrastructure, Kubernetes, cloud, and networking layers

SAP Platform Experience

• Experience supporting SAP platforms, SAP infrastructure, SAP HANA, or SAP Basis-adjacent environments
• Understanding of secure enterprise platform operations and hybrid deployment models

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerized SAP modernization initiatives
• GitOps and release automation experience
• Security hardening and compliance automation experience
• Experience supporting stateful workloads in Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Experience creating operational runbooks and technical documentation
• Experience working across engineering, networking, infrastructure, and SAP functional teams
