Senior Data Engineer & Analytics Lead

Location: South Bend, IN
Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer & Analytics Lead to drive machine learning initiatives, build scalable data infrastructure, and partner closely with business and operations leaders to deliver data-driven decisions. This role combines data engineering, advanced analytics, and applied machine learning in a highly visible position with significant ownership and impact.

The ideal candidate has experience building production-ready data and analytics solutions, translating business needs into technical solutions, and leveraging data to support growth, optimization, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Own machine learning, advanced analytics, and data engineering initiatives from concept through production deployment.
Build and maintain scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and reporting solutions that support business growth and operational excellence.
Serve as a strategic partner to business and operations teams, translating data into actionable insights and measurable results.
Drive automation, predictive analytics, and experimentation efforts to improve decision-making, profitability, and efficiency.
Establish best practices around data quality, governance, model monitoring, and overall analytics performance.
Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or a closely related field.
Strong experience with SQL and Python.
Experience building and supporting production data pipelines and analytics solutions.
Hands-on experience with machine learning model development, deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and database performance tuning.
Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical, business, and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in eCommerce, retail, marketplace, omnichannel, or digital commerce environments.
Experience supporting businesses that sell through both direct-to-consumer websites and third-party marketplaces such as Amazon and Walmart.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with modern data orchestration and transformation tools such as dbt, Airflow, Prefect, SSIS, or similar.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools and modern analytics workflows.
Exposure to MLOps, vector databases, recommendation systems, pricing analytics, or predictive modeling.
