Summary

The Senior Detailer works directly with Sales, Creative, Production, and Operations to create an all in compassing set of Production Ready Detail Drawings. The Sr. Detailer is responsible for being that single point of contact for Detailing related responsibilities based on accounts and clients assigned.

This position will support our Growth, Creative, Graphics, and Operations teams. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week.

The ideal candidate will be located in Chicago, IL; however, we are also open to candidates based out of:

  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Orlando, FL

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed production ready drawings depicting fabrication, construction and assembly of structures for exhibit and event projects, using AutoCAD software.
  • Lay out and depict functional components for production and show site installation and assembly.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct construction standards or to reduce production difficulties and cost.
  • Prepare comprehensive BOM lists for production.
  • Collaborate with others to determine technical details of productions.
  • Consult with other departments to identify optimal construction methods while respecting the original design.
  • Recommends design modifications to eliminate unnecessary costs or labor hours, and/or construction problems.
  • Partner with Designers to provide feedback on construction challenges.
  • Partner with Sales/Estimating/Design on business development opportunities.
  • Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
  • Confer with Sales, Design, Estimating and Production to develop enhanced production techniques and refine processes. Suggests solutions to production challenges.
  • Aids Design by modeling complex structures in production ready form.
  • Functions as an expert with a deep understanding of customer needs and the organizations offerings.
  • Can work independently or lead a small team of detailers depending on size, complexity, and scope of work.
  • Perform QA/QC on all detail drawings from local team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience required.
  • Expert level in both 2D and 3D AutoCAD by Autodesk.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Vault Professional preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Detailing and/or Drafting in a manufacturing environment. Tradeshow and Event industry preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

AutoCAD Certified Professional preferred.
