Job Description

We are looking for a technically strong engineer to support the deployment, integration, operation, and sustainment of mission critical systems in classified environments. This position works at the intersection of OpenShift platform operations, Rundeck based automation, and traditional system administration, while also helping to ensure security compliance requirements are met. The role is hands on and fast paced, requiring solid troubleshooting across compute, network, storage, and platform layers. The engineer will act as a key technical resource during deployments and incidents, coordinating with multiple domains and mission stakeholders. This is an individual contributor position with no direct people management duties. Directly contribute to mission critical space programs. Work with cutting edge container platforms and automation frameworks while building expertise in classified environment operations. Partner with engineers, cyber specialists, network teams, and program stakeholders in a high tempo setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain OpenShift clusters inside classified networks. Monitor health, apply updates, and work with mission application teams to keep the platform reliable and available.
• Provide day to day support for Linux and Windows servers (patching, configuration management, troubleshooting, lifecycle upkeep).
• Support the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and related network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity for platform, system, and mission operations.
• Serve as an escalation point for outages or deployment failures. Perform root cause analysis and restore service quickly while documenting findings.
• Follow established security controls, configuration standards, and accreditation requirements. Assist with audit preparation and remediation.
• Diagnose and resolve issues that span networking, storage, operating systems, and platform services.

Basic Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment (SCI preferred).
• Certifications such as Security+, RHCSA/RHCE, CISSP, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
• 3+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, platform operations, or system administration, preferably in enterprise or classified environments.
• Strong Linux and Windows Server administration skills (patching, configuration management, troubleshooting).
• Experience configuring and supporting enterprise network devices, including routers and switches, with the ability to troubleshoot connectivity and network performance issues in operational environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot distributed systems across compute, network, and storage layers.
• Experience with security focused tasks: system hardening, compliance checks, audit readiness, and maintaining security controls.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities; comfortable working with operations, cybersecurity, networking, and program teams.
• Ability to travel on short notice, up to approximately 25%, in support of deployment and operational activities.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of enterprise networking (routing, switching, DNS, load balancing) and storage technologies (SAN/NAS, replication, backup/recovery).
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating OpenShift clusters; familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
• Experience serving as a technical anchor during large-scale deployment events or major operational incidents, providing informal mentorship to engineers.
• Involvement in enterprise-scale modernization initiatives (e.g., 1LMX or similar transformation programs).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00
