  • Serves as the supervising internal medicine clerkship administrator for all affiliated medical centers and healthcare facilities as well as directing the largest clerkship site at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Exercises significant independent judgment and has signature authority tor program related issues.
  • Prepares schedules, acquires course facilities, and coordinates with administrative support departments for materials and supplies. Ensures that all participants are notified of schedule changes; responds to inquiries regarding meetings, conferences, courses, schedules, policies and procedures. Schedules monthly sessions for teachers to meet with EDP staff to discuss student progress.
  • Collects, develops and edits notes from formal evaluation sessions and faculty written evaluations of student achievement into a final grade narrative analyzes all sources of information about student performance in three critical domains - knowledge, skills and professional behaviors - draws conclusions, and prepares narrative reports. Selects students for further discussion of grades by the departmental education committee.
  • Reviews procedures and recommends changes to the registration and grading process. Responds to inquiries and corrects administrative problems related to the budget, procurement, parking and security, equipment and teaching materials and the database.
  • Develops, reviews and maintains the status of a line-item budget; analyzes the overall impact of various program administrative decisions and plans on the budget and makes recommendations that enhance program operations.
  • Ensures the preparation of various recurring and special administrative reports and correspondence. Provides follow up on administrative actions through completion. Searches for and compiles information, and prepares reports such as, student statistics, accreditation, course evaluations, accomplishments (for program management purposes), etc.
  • Designs filing and retrieval system of correspondence, accreditation documentation and other academic related material and information. Establishes, organizes and maintains automated archival files used for program improvement and review.
  • Analyzes program information, such as statistical data, through searches of computerized databases and assessment of information gained through direct observations/ discussions; summarizes; and prepares reports. Prepares abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Administers final examinations to medical students; collects examinations locally and from all clerkship training sites, submits examination materials; and reviews and compiles evaluation reports to determine students' final grades.
  • Advises course directors of failing grades or reports to students who may have particular difficulties in performance or attendance. Designs systems for organization of materials from all teaching sites and ensures the provision of teaching materials by the Multidiscipline Laboratory. Develops work statements, estimates costs, prepares budgets for Clerkship and authorizes disbursement of funds.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the department chair.

This position will be in support of USU's School of Medicine's Medicine department (SOM-MED), located in Bethesda, MD.
