TRL11, Inc. is a venture-backed startup at the forefront of advanced video and imaging technology for space and defense/aerospace applications. Based in Irvine, CA, our team is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that push the boundaries of what's possible in extreme environments. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering high-reliability electronics for mission-critical systems, directly impacting the success of our products in space and aerospace applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) and PCB assemblies (PCBAs) for camera systems, edge recorders, and spacecraft electromechanical systems
- Lead multiple design cycles for high-reliability electronics, ensuring robust performance in demanding environments
- Perform sneak circuit analysis, thermal derating analysis, radiation tolerance assessments, and MTBF analysis to meet stringent reliability standards
- Develop electronics in accordance with qualification standards such as MIL-STD-461G and SMC-S-016 (or similar)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate imaging systems and CMOS sensors into product designs
- Contribute to high-speed signal design and support low-voltage power design as needed
- Drive innovation in radiation-tolerant electronics and advanced imaging system development
- Contribution to projects including FPGA implementation and programming
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience including PCB design
- Experience designing electronics for space or aerospace/defense hardware
- Completed multiple design cycles on high-reliability electronics systems
- High-speed digital design experience (signal integrity / high-speed interfaces)
- Experience performing thermal derating analysis and MTBF analysis
- Familiarity with qualification standards such as MIL-STD-461G and SMC-S-016 (or similar)
- US Person status (e.g., US citizen or permanent resident)
- Willingness to travel occasionally as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Low-voltage power design experience
- Hands-on PCB CAD experience with Altium Designer
- Development experience with CMOS sensors and imaging systems
- Experience developing or qualifying radiation-tolerant electronics
- Experience programming in HDL's such as Verilog or VHSIC
