Responsibilities:

Sabre Systems is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, testing, and deployment of advanced High Frequency (HF) antenna and RF systems. The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader across the system lifecycle, contributing to requirements development, system architecture, hardware design, RF characterization, modeling and simulation, integration, field testing, and customer engagement.

This position is ideal for an engineer with a strong background in RF systems, antenna design, embedded electronics, and hardware development who can bridge system-level requirements with practical implementation and testing. The selected candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams supporting defense, research, and operational HF communications and sensing programs. The candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Lead systems engineering activities for HF antenna and RF system development programs.
  • Develop and manage system requirements, interface definitions, verification plans, and technical documentation.
  • Support the design, analysis, integration, and testing of HF antenna systems, RF receivers, transmitters, and associated electronics.
  • Perform antenna modeling, propagation analysis, impedance matching, RF measurements, and system performance assessments.
  • Develop and evaluate system architectures for HF communications, sensing, direction finding, and signal collection applications.
  • Plan and execute laboratory, chamber, and field-testing activities, including data collection and performance validation.
  • Support integration of software-defined radios (SDRs), embedded processing platforms, and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze RF system performance using modeling, simulation, and measurement tools.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams to define technical solutions and program priorities.
  • Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and trade studies.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Support proposal efforts, technology demonstrations, and transition of prototype systems into operational use.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of professional engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HF antenna theory, RF systems, and electromagnetic principles.
  • Experience with antenna design, characterization, and testing.
  • Experience developing and integrating RF hardware and embedded electronic systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
  • Experience leading technical projects through design, integration, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.

Desired Technical Experience:

  • HF, VHF, and UHF communications systems.
  • Antenna arrays, direction-finding systems, and propagation measurement systems.
  • Software Defined Radio (SDR) platforms and RF instrumentation.
  • RF simulation and modeling tools such as CST Studio Suite, FEKO, HFSS, or equivalent.
  • MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar engineering software environments.
  • PCB design and development for mixed-signal, embedded, and RF applications.
  • High-speed digital interfaces and embedded hardware development.
  • S-parameter measurements, impedance matching, spectrum analysis, and VNA-based testing.
  • Anechoic chamber testing and field measurement campaigns.
  • Data acquisition systems and real-time signal processing.
  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) considerations.
  • Prototype development and rapid hardware iteration.
