Sr. Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support new product design projects across the Lab and Field Instrumentation business segment. Senior engineers serve as a technical leader at the project level, driving the development of designs from the translation of customer needs through to the final production handoff. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical design principles and best practices as well as the skills to coordinate across disciplines and produce robust products that satisfy customer needs.

This position offers a high impact opportunity to shape both the technical direction of our products and the development of the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic hardware systems and subsystems, including architecture definition, analysis, and component selection
  • Deliver hardware designs from concept through prototype, validation, and production release in compliance with established product development and quality processes
  • Prepare and review schematics, technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation to ensure alignment with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements
  • Develop and execute validation and verification plans, including functional, stress, environmental, performance, and compliance testing
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations for development, production, and field issues; implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Design for manufacturability, testability, reliability, cost, and regulatory compliance in collaboration with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams
  • Interface with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external test laboratories to support component qualification, production readiness, and compliance certification
  • Support the development of project SOWs, schedules, cost estimates, and risk mitigation plans to drive new product introduction activities including pilot builds, production ramp, and issue resolution
  • Communicate status and technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers through consultation, design reviews, and day to day collaboration to build capability and ensure consistent engineering practices
  • Work evenings and weekends when necessary to meet critical milestones and business objectives

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 8 years of directly related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience within the following areas of focus.

  • Strong background in mixed signal electrical design, including microcontrollers, power conversion, motor drivers, analog signal conditioning, and interconnects / wire harnessing
  • Expertise in PCB design and layout best practices, including stack up definition, impedance control, EMI/EMC mitigation, and design for manufacturability and testability
  • Hands on proficiency with electrical CAD tools for schematic capture, layout, and release (Altium preferred)
  • Experience using electrical simulation and analysis tools to support circuit design, stability analysis, and design tradeoffs
  • Advanced hands on use of laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power analyzers, etc.) for debug, characterization, and validation
  • Experience developing and executing validation and verification testing, including functional, stress, environmental, performance, and regulatory pre compliance testing
  • Ability to author clear technical specifications, requirements, and test plans, and to review and approve engineering documentation
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance processes and documentation (FCC/IC, CE, UL, and related standards)
  • Familiarity with modern sensing technologies and their electrical integration considerations
  • Working knowledge of basic building electrical systems (120/240 VAC), grounding, and safety considerations
  • Comfortable driving project execution, including task estimation, schedule development, technical risk identification, and cross functional communication
