Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical architecture and detailed design of complex vacuum process equipment from concept through manufacturing release. In this role, you will translate customer, product, and regulatory requirements into robust electrical solutions while balancing performance, safety, cost, and manufacturability. You'll play a key leadership role in designing integrated systems, mentoring engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, cutting-edge equipment.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Architecture

  • Lead electrical architecture and detailed design from concept through manufacturing release

  • Translate cross-functional requirements into clear, effective electrical specifications

  • Design and release:

  • Electrical schematics

  • Control panel layouts

  • Electrical assemblies and documentation

  • Integrate:

  • Power supplies

  • Motion systems & controllers

  • Robotics

  • Sensors and control hardware

Technical Leadership & Problem Solving

  • Drive technical direction through design reviews and engineering decisions
  • Perform advanced root cause analysis across development, manufacturing, and field systems
  • Mentor junior engineers and elevate overall team design standards
  • Influence cross-functional decisions without direct authority

System Integration & Collaboration

  • Partner with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams
  • Ensure seamless system integration, build, and installation
  • Support product and marketing stakeholders with technical insights

Testing & Validation

  • Plan and execute electrical testing and design of experiments (DOE)
  • Analyze test data and provide actionable design recommendations

Compliance & Standards

  • Design in alignment with:

  • CE

  • UL

  • TUV

  • RoHS

  • Support design-for-compliance best practices

Continuous Improvement

  • Address component obsolescence and maintain long-term product support
  • Contribute to improvements in electrical engineering processes, tools, and standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering + 5+ years of capital equipment experience
  • OR
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering + 4+ years of relevant experience

Core Expertise

  • Ownership of electrical design for complex electro-mechanical systems

  • Proficiency with:

  • AutoCAD Electrical or similar ECAD tools

  • Strong background in:

  • Analog and digital circuit design

  • Schematic development and release

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on debugging using:

  • Oscilloscopes

  • Logic analyzers

  • Experience integrating:

  • Power supplies

  • PLCs

  • Motion controllers

  • PLC control panel / cabinet design for industrial equipment

  • High-voltage electrical design (primarily digital systems)

  • Ability to resolve component and design obsolescence

Domain Knowledge

  • Industrial machinery / capital equipment design

  • Exposure to:

  • Vacuum systems

  • Robotics

  • Motion control systems

  • Familiarity with compliance standards (CE, UL, TUV, RoHS)

Soft Skills

  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to distill complex concepts for diverse audiences
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with microcontroller-based design
  • background in semiconductor or advanced capital equipment
  • Exposure to both analog and digital motion control
  • Participation in structured design reviews
  • Strong DOE and test planning experience

Nice-to-Have Industry Experience

  • Semiconductor process equipment, including:
  • Laser annealing
  • Ion beam deposition & etch
  • Chemical vapor deposition (CVD)
  • Single wafer etch & clean
  • Lithography systems
