POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll contribute to multiple high-impact projects, driving innovation from concept through execution. You'll apply your expertise in research, design, development, and documentation to solve complex engineering challenges and bring new ideas to life. In this role, you'll evaluate and validate design concepts through analysis, testing, and applied research, helping shape the next generation of products and solutions. You'll also collaborate closely with experienced engineering leaders, cross-functional teams, customers, and external partners, giving you the opportunity to influence key decisions and make a meaningful impact across the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and analyzes AC-DC and DC-DC high voltage module products and subsystems/circuits primarily up to 60kV and 500W to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals

  • Diagnoses issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, reliability and test yields of products and recommends and implements corrective actions to address

  • Assumes responsibility for the success of the product in customers' applications and recommends corrective actions as needed

  • Follows key engineering procedures including the Product Development Process and ECO process

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Location: Wilmington, MA

  • Office environment utilizing standard office equipment and engineering lab equipment

  • May be required to travel up to 10% of the time including international and/or domestic travel to remote sites, customers, and vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of operational amplifiers

  • Familiarity with power supplies

  • Knowledge of analog circuit design

  • Firmware experience is a plus

  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions

  • Proven professional skills as an experienced electrical engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies/procedures

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision with general instructions on new assignments

  • Ability to solve complex technical problems independently

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Good interpersonal skills to work as part of a team

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with others in complex situations

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of five years of experience as an electrical engineer

  • Experience identifying and selecting safety-critical components related to engineering change order activities

EDUCATION:

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required

COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 to $150,000 per year.
