Overview The Electrical Engineering (EE) Section of the Materials and Process Engineering Department is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Sr. Electronic Materials Failure Analysis Engineer. This position supports the EE section in its mission of performing electronic materials failure analysis and component evaluation for devices ranging from simple passive components to complex, custom microcircuits, cables, connectors, magnetics, and electromechanics.Responsibilities Work through each step of an analysis, from initial evaluation, photo‑documentation, electrical test, destructive testing, and writing a final report that substantiates any failure conclusions.Determine the root cause of failures using laboratory equipment, including digital photo‑documentation, various electrical component test equipment, Sono‑scan, SEM‑EDS, and destructive techniques.Analyze electrical components, including ceramics, glasses, metal wire bonding, component staking, conformal coating, and solder.Conduct research and interpret complex data to support analysis conclusions.Manage parallel analyses effectively and present findings to stakeholders.Maintain knowledge of government component documents (e.g., MIL‑STD, MIL‑PRF, MIL‑HDBK) and associated QPLs and QMLs.Qualifications: Must Have University degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience.Experience in electronic component failure analysis and analysis of microcircuits, both active and passive electrical components.Qualifications: Preferred Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Material Science.Knowledge of RF device testing and interconnects.Proficiency in data collection and presentation skills to write cogent reports and present findings.Ability to work on parallel analyses.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and component data sheets and drawings.Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as DMM, Curve Tracer, Parametric Analyzers, etc.Technical knowledge of electronic component parts and their applications, and reading electrical schematics and circuit analysis.Advanced degree in the aforementioned disciplines is an advantage, though not required.ABET accreditation is preferred.Benefits Medical, dental and vision coverage.Life insurance, short‑term disability, and long‑term disability.401(k) match and flexible spending accounts.Flexible work schedules and employee assistance program.Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.Annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs (dependent on position level).Equal Opportunity Employer RTX is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
