Overview:
Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Sr Electronics Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.
Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.
As a Sr. Electronics Engineer, you will lead major aspects of the electronics system used in our broad array of scanning systems. In collaboration with a team of dedicated professionals, you will develop solutions that address each customer's unique security needs. This can range from creating interfaces for portable x-ray scanners mounted on experimental robots and drones; mobile systems that enhance security at special events such as the Superbowl; to cargo scanning systems at airports, seaports, train tracks, and the borders that help our customers identify and stop threats and illegal contraband.
Responsibilities:
- Work in a cutting-edge, cross-functional engineering team environment.
- As one of the technical leaders of the EE team, you will be responsible for many of the following design skills:
- Continually seek and research new technologies for integration into our products.
- Design and develop embedded hardware and firmware for X-Ray imaging systems.
- Design Analog circuits using OpAmps, transistors, ADC, DAC, etc.
- Design Digital circuits using Microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPLDs, RAM & DDR memory, etc.
- Develop Test Fixtures and/or PCB’s Designed for Test.
- Develop HDL code using tools such as Active-HDL by ALDEC and applying applicable standards for VHDL/Verilog.
- Prepare product documentation such as interconnects, schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB Layouts, Assembly Drawings, BOMs, etc.
- Interpret industry codes and standards and apply them to our design. Lead efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory standards for our products.
- Capture best practices and develop templates for use by the entire department.
- Mentor junior members of the team and assist in their development.
- Collaborate with Sales, Design and Project teams during all phases of the equipment lifecycle to carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, complexity, and cost limits.
- Perform sustaining engineering functions to maintain and enhance existing products.
- Support Field Service team and customers with program changes, phone support, problem-solving and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering; M.S. is a plus.
- 10+ years’ design experience desired.
- Experience with FPGA development and simulation tools required. Xilinx development tool experience required. VHDL experience is required.
- Experience with programming / scripting languages such as C/C++; LabView a plus.
- Experience with analog and digital circuits; microprocessor hardware, software, their respective development environment, and tools.
- Experience with 2D CAD Electrical Schematic packages, such as Altium Designer and/or OrCAD; EPLAN is a plus.
- Experience with industry standards such IEC, IPC, NFPA, etc.
- Must be able to complete job responsibilities in consideration of different time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet business needs
- Domestic travel required, <15%. Must travel internationally and be able to acquire all necessary travel documents.

Pay may range $135,000 to $140,000 annually
The pay range above represents annual base salary only. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.
Base salary is one component of your total rewards package. You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).
