POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Sr. Energy Project Analyst will be a customer facing financial modeling expert for commercial, industrial and community scale energy storage & solar projects across United States. The Senior Analyst is expected to participate in validation, assessment, and valuation of projects. The analyst will have a great opportunity to learn about and explore the fast-growing renewable energy and energy storage markets. This role puts you at the center of all the action with coordination and collaboration with all of the department’s internal groups, working closely with sales, engineering, product, and project finance teams. This role is based onsite in our Teaneck NJ office, however we may consider remote positions for the right candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct energy storage analytics to analyze the business value of various energy revenue streams, and to support internal/ external teams
  • Work closely with Sales and Business Development to analyze how projects will perform over 20-year horizons and assist with cash-flow modeling.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate project economics, returns, and risk profiles for customer projects.
  • Validate assumptions and optimize project economics in collaboration with customers and key stakeholders
  • Gather and analyze technical and commercial inputs (e.g., revenue forecasts, CapEx/OpEx, equipment specs, production estimates) for accurate modeling.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to inform pricing, incentive strategies, and revenue forecasts.
  • Prepare client-facing presentations and support sales team as needed.
  • Assist in preliminary solar and energy storage system designs to inform feasibility and cost analysis.
  • All other duties as assigned by Senior Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in renewable energy, with direct exposure to distributed generation, community solar, and or energy storage
  • Knowledge of Electricity markets, tariff structures, incentive programs (e.g., state REC programs, ITC/PTC structures).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including complex formulas, macros, and scenario analysis).
  • Familiarity with PV and ESS design tools (HelioScope, Energy Toolbase) and production modeling.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle and contract structures for solar, storage or renewable projects
  • Understanding of renewable energy project finance models including power purchase agreements and shared savings.
  • Experience using Python and/or Matlab for data analysis and simulation
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations
