  • Own hardware design activities across the engineering lifecycle, including architecture, schematic development, implementation, verification, and sustaining support.
  • Perform and oversee circuit board and flex cable design activities, including schematic entry and layout collaboration.
  • Define, document, execute, and analyze board-level and system-level verification test plans.
  • Perform electrical design calculations, tolerance analysis, and technical performance assessments.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues at component, board, and system levels and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Define system and board-level performance requirements for assigned projects.
  • Support selection, qualification, and evaluation of electronic components and custom assemblies such as displays, touch panels, batteries, and related subsystems.
  • Collaborate closely with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to integrate hardware solutions into finished products.
  • Contribute technical leadership during design reviews and major project milestones.
  • Support product and component failure analysis investigations and recommend corrective design actions.
  • Manage technical scope, deliverables, and schedule commitments for assigned hardware workstreams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electronics design, development, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Strong experience with schematic capture tools such as PADS, OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting PCB layout, board bring-up, and high-speed design methodologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability using standard electronic lab instrumentation.
  • Experience with embedded systems and firmware support for board bring-up.
  • Working knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and USB.
  • Familiarity with full product development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Ability to translate system requirements into hardware design solutions.
  • Strong analytical, technical problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to work onsite Monday - Friday in Irvine, CA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing within medical device or other regulated product development environments.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601-1 and related compliance standards.
  • Experience supporting EMC/EMI design, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to signal integrity and power integrity design considerations.
  • Experience with electrical simulation tools such as PSPICE, Multisim, or equivalent.
  • Programming experience in C for embedded systems support.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB or similar engineering analysis tools.
  • Exposure to embedded Linux environments.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
