Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Sr Engineering Technician for a Contract with a client in South Bend, IN. The ideal candidate with experience supporting materials engineering laboratory operations through sample testing, analysis, equipment maintenance, and quality-focused laboratory activities.

Rate Range: $30/Hour to $33/Hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Sr Engineering Technician Job Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate daily laboratory activities, prioritize testing requests, and manage work schedules using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

  • Perform chemical and materials testing, including titrations, salt fog analysis, ONH testing, viscosity, refractive index, and specific gravity evaluations.

  • Prepare and analyze material samples using metallography techniques, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), and microscopy equipment.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to determine appropriate testing methods and communicate results effectively.

  • Manage laboratory inventories, maintain safety standards, and accurately document test results, observations, and technical reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.

  • Experience performing laboratory testing and analysis using analytical instruments and techniques such as titrations, metallography, microscopy, XRD, ONH, or related methods.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices, chemical handling, equipment troubleshooting, and the ability to accurately document and communicate test results.

Pay Details: $30.00 to $33.00 per hour
