Description
Reporting into senior preconstruction leadership, the Senior Estimator will take ownership of estimating deliverables and support the successful pursuit of new projects.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of comprehensive estimates throughout the design and preconstruction phases.
- Develop conceptual budgets, cost plans, and pricing strategies using limited design information.
- Manage and mentor estimating team members on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Assess project risks, develop contingencies, and validate all estimate assumptions and outputs.
- Collaborate with operations, design teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure costing alignment and project viability.
- Analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing, market trends, escalation factors, and procurement risks.
- Present estimating solutions internally and externally during project pursuits, interviews, and client engagements.
Profile
For the Senior Estimator we are seeking:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Approximately 5-10+ years of estimating experience within the construction industry.
- Proven ability to independently lead estimates on large and complex projects.
- Experience across multiple building sectors such as healthcare, institutional, commercial, residential, interiors, or mixed-use developments.
- Strong conceptual estimating capabilities and the ability to build accurate cost models from incomplete information.
- Advanced proficiency with estimating and take-off software, including platforms such as On-Screen Takeoff, Destini, and related estimating tools.
- Strong presentation, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop junior estimators.
- Commercial awareness with a thorough understanding of construction methodology, logistics, procurement, and scheduling.
