Central to this mission is our semiconductor fabrication clean room, where microfabrication processes are used to produce superconducting qubit chips. We are seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to own and drive the safety program for our fabrication facility, ensuring world-class safety performance while enabling rapid innovation and production throughput.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where you will be the single-threaded owner of safety across all clean room operations - from chemical handling and hazardous gas systems to tool safety interlocks and emergency response. You will partner closely with process engineers, equipment engineers, facilities teams, and leadership to embed a culture of safety that scales with our growing fabrication capabilities.
In this role, you won"t just be maintaining safety - you"ll be building the safety framework for a first-of-its-kind quantum device fabrication facility. This is a rare opportunity to shape safety culture from the ground up in an environment where world-class science meets world-class engineering. Your work will directly enable the teams pushing the boundaries of quantum computing.

Chemical & Hazardous Materials Management: Manage chemical hygiene plans, hazardous gas monitoring, and inventory controls for corrosives (HF, HSO), solvents, photoresists, and specialty gases (BCl, Cl, SF, silane).
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 318/70E, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and local fire codes. Manage permits, inspections, and filings.
Risk Assessment: Conduct JHAs, PHAs, and MOC reviews for new tools, process changes, and chemical introductions.
Emergency Response: Develop and drill emergency procedures for chemical spills, gas leaks, fire, and seismic events. Maintain all response equipment and PPE stations.
