JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Senior Financial Analyst – Capital Expenditures (CapEx) is responsible for leading the financial planning, reporting, and analysis of capital investments across the organization. This role partners with project managers, operations, engineering, and accounting teams to ensure disciplined capital management and alignment with the company’s strategic investment objectives.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead tracking, reporting, and forecasting of capital project spending, including monthly variance analysis vs. budget and forecast.
  • Provide actionable insights and commentary on budget-to-actual variances across capital initiatives.
  • Drive the annual capital planning process, collaborating with business units to develop project budgets and multi-year investment plans.
  • Review and evaluate project funding requests, business cases, and investment justifications to support strategic and financial objectives.
  • Prepare detailed reporting and dashboards for leadership and capital steering committees.
  • Ensure proper capitalization, asset classification, and compliance with internal accounting policies and GAAP.
  • Partner with Accounting to support accurate monthly and quarterly CapEx accruals and fixed asset reconciliation.
  • Enhance and maintain CapEx reporting models, tools, and templates to support automation and transparency.
  • Support long-range planning by modeling future capital investment needs and return profiles.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s or MBA a plus).

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or accounting, with a focus on expense management.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities preferred of the position

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and operational expense forecasting.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and planning tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Hyperion) preferred.
  •  Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a strong attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Comfortable managing large datasets and distilling insights for non-finance stakeholders.
