Amazon Web Services is seeking Fire Engineers to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of our designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
Engineers at Amazon: Work to design resilient, cost effective systems. Are responsible for achieving a world-class uptime for our customers. They justify and communicate the technical decisions we make to Sr. Management and work hard to drive continuous advancements and improvements with our designs. They drive change and define/design the systems our customers rely on.
They have hands on design and field experience and can design and operate fire protection and fire alarm systems, have an understanding of the critical equipment needs for a data center, and understand the constructability of varying designs.

As a fire protection engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
As an Engineer in this role, you will work with the Principals and Senior Fire Engineers to drive the standardization of designs across the global region in production data centers and resolve open technical issues in the fire protection and fire alram spaces. You will participate in the research and development of new technologies and designs applicable to our products or services. Relied on as a subject matter expert in the fire engineering field, you write technical documentation for such projects.
Your tasks include conceiving, initiating and leading projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation. You will achieve this by breaking down complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions. This will be achieved by working with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges as well as collaborating with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries. You will escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds.
Part of the role will also include the review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests, provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE's), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans. You will also be expected to maintain and host technical fire-protection and fire-alarm forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center fire systems.
As well as provide support and mentorship for the whole of the DCE engineering community, all while having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutions.
