Tesla's Energy Products Software team is building the next-generation Powerwall Sales Tool - a platform that empowers our channel partners (solar installers, electricians, and energy consultants) to sell Tesla Powerwall to homeowners.

You'll be responsible for building tools that help partners demonstrate the value of Powerwall to homeowners: utility bill analysis, energy savings simulations, backup power sizing, system design, proposal generation, and financing - all in a seamless, mobile-friendly experience that can be used at a customer's kitchen table. This is a high-impact, greenfield project. You'll shape the product from the ground up and directly influence how millions of homeowners discover and purchase Powerwall.

You'll collaborate closely with customers, product managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver extensible design systems and open-source quality solutions. Our fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment encourages rapid iteration and innovation, where your passion for engineering groundbreaking energy solutions will thrive. Expect to tackle complex challenges, contribute to a dynamic team culture, and create delightful user interactions that redefine how energy systems are managed and understood.

  • Build and own full-stack features across the Powerwall Sales Tool platform using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Rust
  • Develop interactive tools that model energy savings, time-of-use arbitrage, solar self-consumption, and backup power value for homeowners based on their actual utility rate and usage
  • Create proposal and quoting workflows that channel partners use to close sales
  • Integrate with utility rate databases, weather/solar resource APIs, and Tesla's internal product and pricing systems
  • Build responsive, mobile-first UIs designed for in-home sales conversations
  • Implement and scale backend services
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Account Managers, and the Powerwall hardware team to translate product requirements into software
  • Write comprehensive tests (unit, integration, e2e) and maintain high code quality standards
  • 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, and GraphQL
  • Experience building customer-facing SaaS products, preferably B2B2C (tools used by partners to serve end customers)
  • Ability to work with complex data models - rate schedules, time-series energy data, financial calculations
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (Argo, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong product sense - you can translate ambiguous business requirements into clean, usable software
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
  • Experience in the solar, energy storage, or clean energy industry, including familiarity with utility rate structures and how they drive battery economics is preferred
  • Experience building proposal/quoting tools, configurators, or sales enablement platforms is preferred
  • Background in data visualization and interactive modeling tools is preferred
